Dr. Hüseyin Sinan was born in 1971 in Besni, Adiyaman. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Istanbul before pursuing his medical career. He graduated from Gulhane Military Medical Academy Military Medicine Faculty in 1996 and served as a Medical Lieutenant. Following his compulsory military service, he specialized in General Surgery at Istanbul GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital from 1999 to 2003.

Dr. Sinan subsequently worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Samsun Military Hospital from 2003 to 2008. He furthered his expertise through a one-year appointment as a Visiting Scholar and Research Fellow in "Advance Laparoscopic Surgery" at the Washington University Center for Videoendoscopic Surgery in Seattle, USA.

After two years of service at Ankara GATA in the Emergency Medicine and General Surgery Departments, he was assigned to Ankara Mevki Military Hospital for two years. Dr. Hüseyin Sinan later served as the head doctor at Van Military Hospital for a period of two years. In 2014, he earned the title of Associate Professor of General Surgery after succeeding in an oral examination conducted by the Inter-University Board.

Following two years as a faculty member at Ankara GATA General Surgery Department, Dr. Sinan joined the Metabolic Surgery Clinic in Istanbul in August 2017. During his time there, he personally participated in approximately 5000 surgeries. His notable achievements include being appointed to the position of professor in December 2019. Additionally, he has an extensive track record of academic contributions, including serving as a guest speaker and session chair in international and domestic publications, book chapter authorship, book translation, and presenting over 100 posters and oral presentations at national and international meetings.

Can anyone undergo Metabolic / Diabetic Surgery ?

Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Sinan will review the result of the pre-departure medical assessments. Only if there is no obstacle to undergoing surgery will the patient be allowed to fly. Dr. Nordina Abd Latif, President of the Malaysian Diabetic Association Malacca Branch, is leading Star Medik Medical Assessment Team. After the assessment is considered OK, the patient needs to pay the amount due, and the patient will get the surgery slot in Istanbul. Another comprehensive medical check-up will be conducted for the second time in Istanbul to ensure the patient fits to undergo the operation. Only if everything is ok, then the procedure will proceed. If surgery is not allowed, Star Medik will return 80% of the total payment to the patient.
How about post-surgery support ?

After the laparoscopy surgery, the patient will recover at the hospital for about three (3) days. Since it is not open surgery, the recovery time will be short. The patient MUST follow all recommendations from the doctors, like the medicine and diet. After being discharged from the hospital, patient has an additional two (2) nights to rest at the hotel and has to undergo further observation before flying back to Malaysia. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Sinan team will issue a flying certificate to ensure the patient can fly home accordingly. In Malaysia, we will have a medical support team to give advice and consultation. For additional wound dressing, etc., the patient may use clinics at their expenses. The patient can always contact Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Sinan’s team via online for any further consultation or advice.
What is the expected result of the surgery ?

After the surgery, and if it is successful, this will cure most patients with Type 2 Diabetic Mellitus and other metabolic issues like high blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. The requirement for the drug will also be reduced or stopped.
